Modernization of electric multiple units

Within the project called „Modernization of electric multiple units” the Company continues the modernization of used electric multiple units (EMU).
The project includes the EMU modernization carried out in 2007-2009 and the modernization ordered in 2010-2011. In total in 2007-2011 about 150 EMU will be modernized. The modernization of the rolling stock is carried out during the seasonal repair: the main and the revisory repair. The modernized rolling stock recovers the ability of further exploitation even for 15 years. The rolling stock's modernization includes the replacement of the main suspension systems and traction systems EMU, the control systems and the equipment of a driver's cab, as well as the equipment of the passenger part of a train. The tender procedure for the rolling stock's repair along with the modernization scheduled in 2010-2011 was announced on the 27th of October 2009 and concluded on the 30th of December 2009.

109 electric multiple units were modernized to 2011. As a result of submitted applications for payment the Company KM received in total 47 659 694.27 zlotych as the compensation of expenses.
